When you submit a quote request or contact AHK Rice through the website, you share business information with us. This page tells you exactly what we collect, why we need it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it — in plain language, not legal boilerplate.

Who we are

AHK Rice is a Basmati rice export company registered and operating from Bucheki, Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan. We export premium Pakistani Basmati rice varieties to buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, UK, Germany, USA, and other international markets.

For the purposes of data protection law, AHK Rice is the data controller — meaning we determine how and why your data is processed when you contact us through this website.

What information we collect

We only collect information you provide to us directly through our website forms. Specifically, when you submit a quote request, we collect:

  • Your full name
  • Company name
  • Work email address
  • Work phone number
  • Business address (street, city, state/region, country)
  • Destination port for rice shipment
  • Product selection and quantity preferences
  • Incoterm preference (CIF, CNF/CFR, or FOB)
  • Any additional questions or comments you choose to include

We do not collect payment information, national identification numbers, or any sensitive personal data through our website. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or website analytics tools that collect personal data.

Why we collect it and the legal basis for doing so

We collect your business contact information for one purpose: to prepare and send you a price quotation, and to follow up on that enquiry if you choose to proceed.

If you are based in the UK or European Union (GDPR applies): Our legal basis for processing your data is legitimate interests — specifically, our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you have initiated. We have assessed that this interest does not override your privacy rights, given that you have actively contacted us to request a commercial quote, and we only use your data to respond to that specific request.

If you are based in California, USA (CCPA/CPRA applies): We collect the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 above. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes. You have the rights described in Section 6 below.

If you are based elsewhere in the world: We apply the same data minimisation and purpose limitation principles regardless of your location. We collect only what is needed, use it only for responding to your enquiry, and do not pass it to third parties for any commercial purpose.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with marketing platforms, data brokers, or advertising networks.

In the normal course of fulfilling a rice export order, your contact and shipment details may be shared with the following categories of third parties, but only once you have confirmed an order and given us instruction to proceed:

  • Shipping lines and freight forwarders (to arrange vessel booking and logistics)
  • Third-party inspection bodies such as SGS or Bureau Veritas (if you request pre-shipment inspection)
  • Port and customs authorities (as required by law for export documentation)

At the enquiry stage — before any order is placed — your data is not shared with anyone outside AHK Rice.

How long we keep your data

If you submit a quote request but do not proceed to an order, we retain your contact details for 12 months from the date of your enquiry, in case you wish to return to the discussion.

If you place an order with us, we retain your business contact and transaction records for 7 years from the date of the transaction. This retention period reflects our obligations under Pakistani tax and commercial law and standard international trade record-keeping practice.

After the relevant retention period, your data is permanently deleted from our systems.

Your rights

Regardless of where you are based, you may contact us at any time to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate or outdated information
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to any legal retention obligations we may have)
  • Object to us processing your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

UK and EU residents have these rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR respectively. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). You additionally have the right to know whether we sell your personal information — we do not.

How we protect your data

All data submitted through our website forms is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to enquiry data within AHK Rice is restricted to the team members responsible for responding to export quotes — namely our Directors of Sales and Marketing and the CEO. We do not store your data in third-party CRM platforms or cloud marketing tools.

International data transfers

AHK Rice is based in Pakistan. When you submit data through our website, it is stored on servers that may be located in Pakistan or in the hosting jurisdiction of our web server provider.

If you are based in the UK or EU, you should be aware that Pakistan does not currently hold an adequacy decision from the UK ICO or European Commission. Where we transfer your data internationally, we do so based on our legitimate interest in responding to your business enquiry, and we apply the protections described in this policy.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and revise the effective date shown at the top. We recommend checking this page periodically if you are a returning customer.
